Set the Scene
Find the right location for you! Whether it be local or a destination, every coast has a beautiful beach waiting for you! Thankfully you have a few options: Resort Beaches, Private Beaches or Public Beaches. If you have the budget for it, Resorts are a personal favorite. The views they offer are breath taking and they typically come with built in catering and staff! If you have access to a home on a Private Beach then you are golden. These weddings offer PRIVACY! From experience we would say, keep your neighbors in mind and take permit fees into consideration! Last but not least, Public Beaches; these weddings are more common then people think! Yet they can become a budget concern when you have to bring in everything!
At Tommy & Reide’s wedding the couple wed at Cheeca Resort & Spa. An absolutely gorgeous resort beach. The ceremony and cocktail hour was held right there on the beach with the most beautiful unobstructed views! A bright white and air conditioned tent was set up for the couple’s reception.
Although we have seen so many beautiful beach weddings with the traditional aqua blues and coral pinks, the norm is changing!
When you are on a beach in South Florida it can be hard to escape the heat even after the sun has gone down. This is why we recommend keeping it bright, fresh, natural and inspired! Use the surroundings around you for inspiration when it comes to creating a color palette. The beach has so much more to offer then just blue waters and beige sands! Pull in the tones from the natural woods and the mauves form the sand, inspiration is everywhere! However, if you are a lover of bold and bright color, do not be afraid to incorporate that into your beach wedding! You just need to find a happy balance!
You will see as we designed Tommy & Reide’s wedding we did just that! We kept it bright and airy as we pulled in natural tones from our environment. From there we worked with our Couple and Kaleidoscope Floral to fill in with colors that complimented the others!
What to Wear!
Finding the right wedding dress is already a struggle but thankfully when you are having a beach wedding, you tend to narrow down your options. It is rare we see a full tulle ball gown walking down the beach. Think of all that sand and the heat, oh my. A light weight/flowy dress is exactly what a beachfront wedding calls for! Your Bridesmaids will sing your praises when you pick out a dress that dose not weight them down either.
The guys can actually be a bit of a challenge but just keep in mind the type of affair you are having. Is it casual, a cocktail, formal or formal optional wedding? A three-piece suit can get a little steamy on the surf side so stay away from the darker shades if you can!
Reide wore a stunning lightweight dress that kept her cool for the entire evening! Tommy did wear a navy three-piece suit, accompanied with a blush tie and white button down; but the moment the reception started the jacket and tie had left the building. Reide’s bridesmaids wore a beautiful array of styles all in unique mauve tones. Tommy’s groomsmen wore pale gray suits, white button downs and no ties!
Décor is huge at any wedding but when you have a gorgeous ocean backdrop, you may not need much else! For your ceremony, make sure to not over clutter the alter and aisle. The ocean speaks for itself, so a simple arch or the shade of a palm tree will do the trick! If you want to incorporate some traditional beachy pieces into your wedding your wedding, try using sea glass table numbers or sand dollar escort cards! Elevate your décor by selecting a gold, silver or copper to be your main accent metal!
For Tommy and Reide’s wedding one of our absolute faves, Kalidescope Floral, gave us life with the walk to down to “I do”. An absolutely stunning display of natural wood candle holders and lush greens. Thankfully these palm trees already call Checca Lodge home; setting us up for success with this amazing backdrop! And while we are here let’s talk about these table numbers… so thoughtfully selected for our setting and ever so carefully written on. I will forever be obsessed!
I hope this helped get your Beach Wedding kick started! If you have any questions on planning your perfect beach side wedding, feel free to send us an email or an inquiry in the “Say Hello” tab of our website! For more photos of Tommy & Reide’s Wedding head to:
